چکیده

We perform the global stability analysis for a viral infection model with two types of immune response. The model is formulated as a system of delay differential equations. We determine the global dynamics in terms of the basic reproduction number using Lyapunov functionals. Our results on the global stability of the infected equilibrium answer the conjecture offered in the paper [K. Wang, W. Wang and X. Liu, Comput. Math. Appl. 51 (2006) 1593-1610].

The importance of lytic and nonlytic immune responses in viral infections.

Antiviral immune effector mechanisms can be divided broadly into lytic and nonlytic components. We use mathematical models to investigate the fundamental question of which type of response is required to combat different types of viral infection. According to our model, the relative roles of the two types of component depend on the cytopathicity of the virus relative to its rate of replication....

Dynamics of a Delayed Epidemic Model with Beddington-DeAngelis ‎Incidence Rate and a Constant Infectious Period

In this paper, an SIR epidemic model with an infectious period and a non-linear Beddington-DeAngelis type incidence rate function is considered. The dynamics of this model depend on the reproduction number R0. Accurately, if R0 < 1, we show the global asymptotic stability of the disease-free equilibrium by analyzing the corresponding characteristic equation and using compa...

The Effect of Immune Responses in Viral Infections: a Mathematical Model View

To study the effect of immune response in viral infections, a new mathematical model is proposed and analyzed. It describes the interactions between susceptible host cells, infected host cells, free virus, lytic and nonlytic immune response. Using the LaSalle’s invariance principle, we establish conditions for the global stability of equilibria. Uniform persistence is obtained when there is a u...

Defining CTL-induced pathology: implications for HIV.

The relationship between virus and host cells is multifactorial and nonlinear. This indicates that the effect of an immune response on infection can lead to several different outcomes. These include severe immunopathology. We seek to define properties of CTL-induced pathology in viral infections and examine the implications for HIV disease progression. We find that CTL-induced pathology is obse...

Mathematical Model for Transmission Dynamics of Hepatitus C Virus with Optimal Control Strategies

An epidemic model with optimal control strategies was investigated for Hepatitus C Viral disease that can be transmitted through infected individuals. In this study, we used a deterministic compartmental model for assessing the effect of different optimal control strategies for controlling the spread of Hepatitus C disease in the community. Stability theory of differential equations is us...
